When people think about private online marketplaces, they tend to think of people doing bad things. After-all, why do you want privacy if you’re up to something good? But there’s more to privacy than that.

Join Dr. Kapil Amarasinghe and I as we discuss use cases for private marketplaces, ecommerce, plus hear his opinion on Bitcoin’s current trajectory as a digital currency.

“The best place I can advise to anyone to start would be with the Bitcoin white paper. It’s only 8 pages long. And you can understand blockchain with that one document. It will teach you everything you need to know. It is vanilla blockchain in its most simple form.”

As I say in the video, I now have a better understanding of how people measure the effectiveness of privacy in privacy coins, with a focus on the ‘noise’ vs the ‘theory’.

It was also new to me to learn about cryptography vs steganography. I had never even heard the word steganography before, and it sounds a bit like stenography.

Crypto News Latest – Something like Libra as a world reserve? Something like a Synthetic Hegemonic Currency (SHC)? What? Mark Carney, head of the Bank of England, recently gave a speech at a world meeting among central banks, economists etc. He spoke about the current issues with the US dollar being the default world reserve, and the negative impact on the rest of the world, particularly Emerging Market Economies (EME).

Crypto News Latest – Brave, a privacy-focused browser headed by Brendan Eich, is the creator of the Basic Attention Token (BAT), used in the Brave browser to monetize an attention economy that is fair to creators, advertisers, and users. Brave uses a third-party wallet service called Uphold to facilitate this process. They are now requiring KYC (know your customer information requests) for creators to receive rewards and withdraw BAT tokens to external accounts. Is this possibly the horribly inevitable future of peer-to-peer exchange of value??

The IRS issued approximately 10,000 letters to warn U.S. crypto holders of remaining in compliance with tax code. Three variations of the letter were sent – 6173, 6174 and 6174-A. One asked for a signature of declaration of compliance under penalty of perjury. This letter was the milder warning version 6174-A. The point is, the IRS has its eyes on crypto users!
